Colombo – Pinnawala – Paradeniya – Kandy - Colombo

0700 AM leave from Colombo in the morning and drive along busy highways into the interior of the island. Depart to Pinnawala ( Approx. 2 Hrs drive). In Pinnewela you will visit the elephant orphanage, where about eighty elephants are well looked after, which have been found throughout the country abandoned by their herd and brought there. You can watch milk feeding for baby jumbos and the daily bath in the nearby river. Proceed to Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri Lanka). It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2), at 460 meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.

Lunch at Kandy.

After this you will reach, the old royal city of Kandy(Approx. 2.5 hrs), beautifully nestled between green hills. In Kandy, you will visit the temple of the tooth relic, which is the holiest shrine in Sri Lanka, where the tooth relic of Lord Buddha is highly venerated. In the evening you'll have the opportunity to see a cultural show performance, where you will see the famous Kandyan dances, as well as up-country and devil dances.
